Red Rock Consulting engineers participated in Engineering Week (E-Week) 2016 by teaching kids about engineering. Jason Unruh and Tommy Bounds assisted Mike Thompson (with Zahl Ford) in the toothpick bridge competition at the Oklahoma Science Museum in Oklahoma City. Their job was to crush the kids’ dreams and hard work by loading the bridges until they broke. The toothpick bridge competition is an annual event during E-Week.
Kristi Bumpas, Robel Gibbe and Polly Sharp all went to Cross Timers Elementary to talk to pre-K and 1st grade students about engineering. The kids also enjoyed a STEM activity involving the 3 little pigs, houses and wind loads…mostly because it ended with candy…

Red Rock Consulting’s first summer intern is Shawn Allred, a civil engineering student from Oklahoma University. Shawn will graduate with his Bachelors in Civil Engineering this fall. He will be going on to study geotechnical engineering at OU for his Masters degree.
