Red Rock Consulting employees volunteered their time yesterday at the Edmond Hope Center.  We sorted canned goods from the recent letter carrier’s food drive.  The amount of food that was donated was amazing and inspiring!

The purpose of HOPE Center is to meet the basic needs of members of the Edmond community by providing food, clothing, household items and financial assistance for rent and utilities.  For more information, please visit the Hope Center website at www.hopecenterofedmond.com.  To volunteer, contact Cheryl Woods at volunteerathope@gmail.com.

May Employee of the Month

Tommy

Tommy Bounds, EI, recently joined the Red Rock Consulting team.

Tommy D. Bounds, EI, joined Red Rock Consulting on May 13, 2013, as a project specialist.  Tommy will be assisting with geotechnical projects.  He is a recent graduate of Oklahoma University, both with his bachelors and masters in Civil Engineering.  Tommy grew up in Konawa, Oklahoma.  Welcome,  Tommy!

Hunting Season

Jason the Deer Hunter

Jason T. Unruh, RRC employee and deer hunter extraodinaire, finished the season with his first buck.   The furry critter never saw the Deer Slayer’s cross bow coming.  The event occured early in “Just forget it” January, which followed “Don’t Shave” December and “No Shave” November.  Way to go Unruh!

Deer season proves to be somewhat of an obstacle for Red Rock Consulting each year, as employees and drillers alike are avid bow and rifle hunters. Thank goodness “Finally” February is just around the corner and we can see those fresh faces and less carnage soon!

Certified Healthy Oklahoma Business

Red Rock Consulting recieved word today that the company has been recognized by the Oklahoma State Department of Health as a Certified Healthy Oklahoma Business!

The Program began in 2003 recognizing those businesses (both profit and non-profit) that are working to improve Oklahoma’s health status by providing health and wellness opportunities for their employees.  Certification requirements vary by size of workplace, but in general, they include providing employee health screenings, workplace health education, opportunities for physical exercise activities, management support for healthy workplace environments, and sharing wellness activities within their respective communities.

RRC and DSO Christmas Party 2012!!!

Red Rock Consulting (RRC) and Drilling Services of Oklahoma (DSO) celebrated our 3rd Christmas party together on December 15th.  Festivities began at Ted’s (after a limo ride from Norman), where we met other friends from Interworks, Cobb Engineering (lab) and Terracon (lab).  The RRC and DSO crew continued with a limo tour of lights through Chickasha and Purcell.  Well, there was a limo ride anyway.  The night ended in Norman at the Embassy Suites.  Good times were had by all.

Thanks for a great 2012, Everyone!!

Giving Back

RRC Employees and Cheryl Woods, Volunteer Coordinator

RRC Employees and Cheryl Woods, Volunteer Coordinator at the Hope Center

Red Rock Consulting employees volunteered their time last Friday at the Edmond Hope Center.  We organized diapers, stocked food shelves and helped give out food donations.  It was such a great experience, that Red Rock Consulting also decided to sponsor a needy family for Christmas, also a program of the Hope Center.

President and Project Engineer

Red Rock Consulting LLC

You could say Kristi Bumpas’ job rocks. Her company specializes in geotechnical engineering, and has advised clients like Vance Air Force Base in Enid, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration, as well as other private and commercial enterprises.

When she started Red Rock Consulting, it was the only geotechnical firm in the state owned by a female engineer.

Since she was a college student, Bumpas has spoken with and mentored children on the importance of education. She routinely volunteers at engineering programs such as Oklahoma State University’s Girl Scout Day and Engineer for a Day, and frequently judges at youth engineering competitions. To encourage her staff to participate, Bumpas lets them count time spent volunteering as work hours, even if the event falls on a weekend.

“I find it is important to encourage children, and girls in particular, to consider a path in engineering,” Bumpas says. “To teach them that it is OK to be smart.”

She has received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from OSU.

3rd Anniversary

Red Rock Consulting celebrated 3 years in business in July, 2012. Pictured with DS.

Red Rock Consulting celebrated 3 years in business in July, 2012.  Many clients, friends and family stopped by to enjoy the festivities.

My most sincere thanks and gratitude go to my employees and DSO for all the help over the past 3 years.  We would not be here today without everyone’s hard work.  I couldn’t do it without you!

And thank you to all of our clients, especially the ones who had faith in our little company since the very beginning.  I am so greatful for you all!

New Drilling Technique

Todd Simpson, DSO

Todd Simpson, DSO, takes a break from the 100+ degree heat while drilling a pipeline project for Red Rock Consulting. The summer of 2012 was the hottest on record with temperatures exceeding 115 degrees. Precautions – such as frequent breaks – must be taken to fend off heat stroke and other heat-related ailments while drillers and engineers are on site.
